The majority of adhesives used on self adhesive labels and tapes have been solvent based systems. Environmental pressure and recent legislation has made the use of these adhesives uneconomic.
      Hot melt adhesives suffer none of these problems and in the UK they are officially recommended*.
      Hot melts do not create any waste in use or manufacture, do not pollute water systems, do not require special handling or heated warehousing and transportation and therefore are more energy efficient than other adhesive systems.

There are other advantages:

  Significantly lower investment than solvent or water
      borne systems.
  Less manpower to run them.
  Much faster throughput.
  Less space required than when using other adhesive
      technologies.
  No drying areas required.
  Can bond paper, plastic films, fabrics metal and most
      other substrates.

End uses include all types of self adhesive labels, signs and decals and tapes for use by consumers as well as in packaging and bag sealing and the electrical, industrial and health care industries.
