the converting industry worldwide. Years of experience in slitting and
rewinding have lead to the development of class leading slitter rewinder
machinery such as the DCW 800 duplex
centre wind slitter rewinder machine. The Total Tension Control system
is now incorporated into all machines produced by Universal including
its roll doctor salvage machine and its TCW 500 turret slitter rewinder
machine.
After a massive investment, Universal Converting Equipment has launched
its revolutionary Universal X9 duplex center wind
slitter rewinder machine. This slitter rewinder is designed to take slitting
to a new level. The machine allows film and paper converters to take total
control of all the process parameters that are critical to obtaining high
quality slit reels of material. The standard X9 slitter rewinder incorporates
a shaft-less unwind, digital guider,
automatic knife setting, Total Tension Control System, differential
rewinds, automatic core alignment
and the latest digital AC drive and control system. A set up wizard ensures
the optimum slitting conditions are used for all materials. Closed loop
measurement of all the key parameters provides total quality control with
actual tension profiles of all the slit rolls wound, stored at the end
of each run.
Through the acquisition of Mercer Adhesive System, Universal now offers a range of hot melt adhesive coating and laminating machines. These hot melt laminators and hot melt coaters incorporate the latest hot melt adhesive technology available from ITW Dynatec. All equipment is designed with high productivity, safety and ease of use at the forefront. Machines can incorporate slitting, full differential rewinds, turret rewinds, automatic splicing, automatic knife setting and Computacore core alignment, ConverterGuide 3 Digital web guiding and data capture systems.
All this technology can be retrofitted onto existing slitters, winders,
rewinders, hot melt coating and laminating equipment. Universal Converting
Equipment can also offer the latest drive and control systems, incorporating
AC flux vector drives, as upgrades for slitters, rewinders and hot melt
coaters and hot melt laminators. Universal Converting Equipment are part
of the Converting Technology Group which also includes Universal Control
Equipment and Universal Adhesive Systems. Special purpose machinery including
automation and assembly equipment and custom hot melt coater and laminators
